George Washington was a ginger. He had red hair.
In all the pictures we see of George, he is wearing a white wig. However, even though wigs were fashionable in his day, George did not wear a wig. George Washington kept his own hair and wore it long and tied back in a queue or ponytail. Washington did, however, powder his hair white, which was the custom of the time.
