Many people enjoy reading their horoscope each day in the hopes that they will offer some guidance and insight into their day. We enjoy learning what personality traits and characteristics are associated with each zodiac sign, trying to learn more about ourselves, friends, family and co-workers. There are many sources of information about these signs and the nature of each of them, but they tend to focus on relationships, career and money. What about stress and relaxation?
There are many effective forms of relaxation including massage therapy, social activities and meditation techniques that offer relief from the stresses of everyday life. One of the most effective ways to relax is physical exercise, which reduces stress, relieves tension and offers many physical health benefits as well.
We thought it would be fun to take a look at the zodiac signs and pair each sign with the best stress-busting exercise to de-stress, relax and rejuvenate!
Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)
Aquarius craves excitement and new experiences and “re-creates” through adventure. While adventure travel may be the ideal stress relief for this segment of the zodiac, there are many adventures to be found closer to home – hiking, mountain climbing or kayaking. Any chance to explore something new will rejuvenate Aquarius.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20)
A water sign, Pisces are very sensitive to the energy of those around them and become stressed easily. Swimming, water sports, and even time in a hot tub may be the perfect de-stressors for Pisces. Time in the ocean also helps clear the energy fields for this sensitive sign.
Aries (March 21 – April 19)
Aries tend to charge in and take everything head-on just like the ram that represents the zodiac sign. They usually need to work off excess energy, so walking or running make excellent stress relievers for this sign, as does weight lifting.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
An earth sign, Taurus tends to get caught up in blaming themselves when things don’t go the way they planned it. They need to learn to see the big picture and meditation is a great way to do this. Gardening is also a terrific way for this zodiac sign to unwind and relax mentally, while getting some physical activity as they contemplate a situation. This also allows them to be productive, which satisfies them.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
Gemini tends to get caught up in their own minds as they overthink every little thing. Mindful walking, deep meditation and yoga offer ways for the Gemini to settle down and relax. This sign also benefits from weight lifting as they tend to overlook their physical self, and weight lifting requires focus on specific body movements.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
Cancer is a sensitive sign and can be a bit withdrawn. A perfect physical exercise for this sign is walking a dog or playing with a pet, which allows them to connect without risk. Journaling and writing offers another way for this sensitive sign to unwind without feeling vulnerable.
Leo (July 23 – August 22)
As natural leaders, Leo excels at team sports. This gives them a chance to shine as they play and shine as they show leadership skills in the team or club. Clubs that focus on hobbies also offer Leo this outlet for the same reasons.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
Virgos tend to get caught up in every little detail, often stressing out the other signs! A great way to get Virgo to relax is to get them to play and have fun with some sort of artistic project. Learning to paint, or through pottery or craft may be the perfect stress reliever for Virgo. Exercise should also be play for this sign. Playing with a Frisbee, friendly games of volleyball or even dancing offer Virgo a chance to relax about the details and rules.
Libra (September 22 – October 22)
As the sign of balance, Libras get very upset when things are “out of whack.” Things that bring about inner harmony and balance tend to work best to relax the Libra – Tai Chi, Chi Gong and yoga will bring Libra back into harmony.
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
As a water sign, swimming is an excellent choice for Scorpio. This zodiac sign does tend to be sensitive, though, and can hold a grudge like nobody’s business! Exercise that allows them to work off that anger is excellent at reducing stress for Scorpio. Boxing or martial arts allow Scorpio to release that anger and frustration.
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)
Enter the hunter – this sign is very physical and active. Sagittarius likes movement and plenty of it, so running, biking and hiking are excellent choices for them. Anything that drains off their excess physical energy works well for Sagittarius.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)
Capricorn tends to be a bit controlled and controlling and needs to learn to have some fun! Dance offers some controlled movement, but is mixed with an element of creativity and fun that allows Capricorn to relax and de-stress.
While it is fun to learn about the zodiac signs and the characteristics of each of them, most people take this information with a grain of salt. The fact is any regular physical activity will help all zodiac signs by reducing stress, strengthening the body, and helping to lower blood pressure and weight. If you are feeling stressed, engage in your favorite exercise and don’t worry that it may not be what is “best” for your sign. After all, the best stress-busting exercise for your zodiac sign is the one that will get you up off of the couch!
